PRP Joint Injections
in Dallas

Explore the root causes of your joint pain and mobility concerns with a personalized medical consultation. We’ll assess your symptoms, review any relevant imaging or previous treatments, and determine whether PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) joint injections may be an appropriate option for your knees, elbows, or shoulders. Treatments are performed with ultrasound guidance to support precise placement and accuracy during the injection process. Your provider will create a customized treatment plan focused on supporting joint function, reducing discomfort, and helping you get back to doing what you love. Let’s take the first step toward improved movement and recovery!

Medical Procedure Overview

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Joint Injections under Ultrasound Guidance utilize the advanced EmCyte Executive Series Centrifuge to deliver a highly concentrated, pure blend of your body’s own growth factors directly into the affected joint, accelerating natural tissue repair and reducing inflammation.

Depending on your specific condition, your provider uses real-time ultrasound visualization to precisely target the damaged cartilage, tendon, or joint space—ensuring optimal placement and maximum therapeutic benefit for conditions like osteoarthritis, tendinitis, or ligament tears.

Most procedures take 60-90 minutes (including the blood draw and processing time), and a local anesthetic will be used to ensure your comfort. You may experience soreness or fullness in the joint for a few days after, with progressive pain relief and improved mobility building over the following weeks as the tissue heals.

When to Schedule Your Treatment

Before booking the appointment, clinical guidelines suggest scheduling PRP when:

  • Conservative treatments have stalled: You have tried rest, bracing, and physical therapy for at least 4–6 weeks without adequate relief.
  • You want to avoid or delay surgery: You are trying to bridge the gap before considering options like a total knee replacement or rotator cuff surgery.
  • Cortisone is no longer an option: Cortisone shots degrade tissue over time. If your last cortisone shot was at least 4 to 6 weeks ago (to ensure it has cleared your system), you are ready to schedule PRP.

Because PRP relies on blood platelets causing localized inflammation to trigger healing, Anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) will completely neutralize the treatment. * Schedule 5 to 7 days AFTER stopping: Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Naproxen (Aleve), Meloxicam, or high-dose Aspirin.

  • Plan to stay off NSAIDs for 2 to 4 weeks POST-injection: You must ensure you do not have any major events coming up where you would rely on these medications for pain management.

PRP does not provide instant pain relief; in fact, the first 3–7 days usually involve a temporary "pain flare" due to the induced inflammation.

If you are a... When to Schedule Why
Athlete / Competitor During the off-season or at least 6–8 weeks before a major competitive cycle. Allows for the initial 2-week rest phase and subsequent physical therapy without the pressure to compete.
Desk Worker Any day of the week; can typically return to work within 24 hours. Minimal physical strain means you don't need extended time off.
Manual Laborer / Heavy Lifter Right before a long weekend or planned vacation/light-duty block. You will need to avoid heavy lifting or repetitive overhead motions for 4–6 weeks.
Traveler At least 48–72 hours before a flight or long car ride. Minimizes the risk of stiffness and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after a blood draw/injection.
